Ambassadors has teamed up with renowned Director Marco Grandia & Depofilms to shoot another football star-studded commercial – featuring Cristiano Ronaldo for Türk Telecom.
Türk Telekom group launches their new and distinctive campaign featuring the Real Madrid forward to promote its new 4.5G mobile network technology. The film’s narrative depicts the 31-year-old Portuguese football hero mysteriously beginning to lose his renowned pace, midway through a football game. The only way to fix Ronaldo’s problem is to fly him to Turkey and visit one of the Türk Telekom’s offices, in order to re-charge.
The film reaffirms Türk Telekom group’s position as Turkey’s world-class, integrated telecommunication and technology services provider.
Marco Grandia – Director: “Great to do another ‘Big one’. We are starting to be a well oiled machine on these kind of jobs. Cristiano was a really nice guy and it is amazing that we could shoot all of his scenes in 3 hours. The idea is a bit surreal, but that is what they like in Turkey. It turned out to be a short movie.”
Ton Habraken – VFX Director | Founder: “This project has been extra challenging because we were asked to create all of the
virtual stadiums and the robotic arm in just a week. We are used to tight deadlines and have become quite adept with computer-generated crowds and virtual stadiums, but to finish shooting the plates and then deliver the final shots within a week was something we had not done before.
“Based on our previous experience and our team’s confidence we could manage this, we felt up to the task. We started by shooting the VFX plates with Cristiano and selecting those that would make it into the cut. We sent these over to our Amsterdam studio so the team could start working immediately. That also meant some of the edit decisions had to be made when only a small part of the film had been shot, involving Kim Hinrichs (editor)  in a very early in the process and producing the project in a clever and structured way. It was a great team effort and all parties involved were fully aware of the challenge we were facing which made things go quite smooth in the end.”
Joep Meijburg – Sound Designer | Composer: “After I saw the first edit I knew which sounds I needed to create. I really enjoyed working with Marco as we had same state of “sound”. This meant we were on track and he gave me creative freedom. Also it was great to work on 2 minutes of TVC, as there was more time to build up the sound design per scene.”
